About Trips

Whether you are able to give financially or not, I ask that you please keep myself and my team in your prayers over the next few months. Please pray that we are each able to raise the money needed for this trip, that God continues to refine us as we prepare for the joys and trials we may face in Madrid, and for safe travels!

MADRID

Jesus tells us in John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

I have the absolute honor to spend the month of June loving those around me by going to Madrid, Spain to serve God's Kingdom and share the Good News about Jesus. So many people haven't had the chance to sit down and look at scriptures personally nor in depth, and I have the opportunity to share this Good News in Madrid this summer.

26% (1 in 4) of citizens in Spain identify as atheists while many others have been left disillusioned and discouraged by centuries of corruption in the state church. Our goal as a team is to meet students on university campuses in Madrid and to give them the opportunity to be introduced to Jesus and to experience authentic Christianity marked by true love for God and people. We will spend most of our time sharing our faith on university campuses in the city and studying the Bible with students we meet.

Not only will we be able to reach out and love the lost, but we will also have the time to encourage and learn from the small, faithful church of 30 in this beautiful city.

In giving to myself and my team members, you are helping us have the opportunity to really change lives and help people know this God that deeply desires a relationship with each of us. The money raised from the t-shirts and calligraphy prints covers my team's plane tickets, food, and public transportation costs for the month.

TAIWAN

Camp Swamp began in 1993 renting from facilities in Georgia and Alabama until its own 180-acre facility was built in in 1998, when it earned its name during torrential downpours while construction was taking place. During the years from 1993 to 2009, Camp Swamp held multiple weeks--reaching 10 weeks in 2000--at its sole location in Penfield, Georgia.

In the fall of 2009, a group of teenagers  from the Athens, Georgia area desired to travel to Jamaica to help serve that nation by building homes in poor, outlying areas. Due to liability restrictions by the local governments, they were prohibited from this humanitarian endeavor; however, they would not be deterred. Each teen had benefited from their annual stay at Camp Swamp for many years, where despite the high costs, a handful of participants from Jamaica traveled every year to join them. This was the first Swamp Corps location.

Fast forward to 2019 and teams of counselors, campers, and adult volunteers have gone to 13 countries to spread the joy that Camp Swamp has brought so many people over the years. One of those countries this year is Taiwan. I have the honor to go this July to Taiwan and help them start their very own Camp Swamp.

Camp holds a very special place in my heart. I've been going to camp for 10 years, and this is my fourth Swamp Corps trip. It is said that Swamp is "a little piece of heaven" and it is really true; I have never left an experience with camp the same person. I go home with new convictions, new memories, and new things I love about Jesus. I am so excited to be part of someone else's Camp Swamp experience in Taiwan.
